Here's one of the best shows in 2022.
And i'm fairly sure the best soundtrack as well.
I mean room temperature IQ kids won't like it, but then again this show isn't really meant for them, and i sure as hell can appreciate a show that is for adults.

Cranor • 1 year ago

It's a good show for sure. Ending felt a bit... lacking, expected, but still satisfactory.
It's somewhat open-ended, I just have to imagine that the events that transpired and the actions of the individuals involved was documented well enough to be shared and honored one way or another.

Good show yes, great show of 2022? I dunno.
It felt like a hollywood ending tacked on at the end.

The animation grew on me pretty quickly. And the ambience is top notch. And stories like this are just my cup of tea. What a pleasant surprise this was. Must watch for sci-fi fans

^K • 1 year ago

agreed fully, and the character models kinda reminded me of Baki, probs the same artists made the models for this.

guesswho • 1 year ago

I'm glad I watched it till the end. Nina, Mack and the Lewises are the heroes. Even if I don't particularly like Oscar, I found him pretty consistent through the series. And Patty well, she's a villain but yeah, not a bad writing either. But how Lewis was reprinted lol ? I admit, at first the CGI shocked me (not in a good way) but after 10 min I quickly got used to it, even more when the story was that engaging. i found bit of terraformars and fantastic 4 elements here and there. That was a pretty nice show.

Takkun67 • 1 year ago

He didn't get reprinted, that's the original Lewis. The original never died, he was just supposed to arrive way later on the migrant vessels. But yeah it was an amazing show!

Shit animation, captivating story. Should've read the book instead :D

BSJDynasty • 1 year ago

not bad animation for mobile game cut scenes.

Darjus • 1 year ago

CGI..... ffs stop and make normal anime...

Wolfkner zxc • 1 year ago

tbh its well animated, just the art style hurts

symmetriebruch • 1 year ago

as an animator myself i can tell you that it´s not, for the most part. theres decent parts, but most of them seemed like shit.
looks to me they only got one real animator and several interns who tried to learn on the job. might also be the case that they just left the rough sketches in (that the interns did, that were meant to be refined by a competent animator later) because they ran out of time and money to complete it.

The creators forgot their own made up organization's rules. Eliminate all animals that threaten the mission. Patty being a confirmed terrorist easily fits in this rule, yet they leave her alive time and time again after getting caught (even Mack), leading to more trouble for the "plot" convenience.

Imacherry • 1 year ago

I don't really understand why patty wanted to keep the bomb on the Planet X as it would kill the organisms that where already there? Shouldn't be other way around? Anyway I enjoyed the story and animation grew on me in the end.

xxYoloSwagxx69420 • 1 year ago

I didn't really get it either. My interpretation of it was "Some of you may die, but that is a sacrifice I'm willing to make." Like yeah, the bomb will kill some of them, but it won't drive the organisms to extinction.

Emerson Choy • 1 year ago

I think the bomb only affects the atmosphere, and Patty just said the organisms will die cause the machine will mess up the original soil and not the atmosphere, Their plan was to land the soil transformer where there wasn't organisms, and blow it up there I'm pretty sure. I honestly missed this part and was confused as well lol, had to go back to figure out, they only mentioned it in one phrase lol, ig bit of a flaw there in the story telling. The bomb thing they also explained it once I'm pretty sure and never mentioned it again, tried to find it but couldn't lol.

Imacherry • 1 year ago

Thanks for explaining it, but their plan still doesn't make sense either. They could have discarded the soil transformer in space then exploded it or just kept it on board so it never gets on Planet X. Pattys had full access to the ship as they had the "permission" from the everyone because the eyes? Oh well, probably wasn't paying enough attention.

Cranor • 1 year ago

"They could have discarded the soil transformer in space then exploded it"

So it seems like although they had a lot of power on the ship, perhaps they couldn't simply send it out into space because of various countermeasures done in case something similar were to happen. It's not outrageous to think that they'd only be able to release it if all of the needed circumstances were all in order.

"or just kept it on board so it never gets on Planet X"

Now they did state that they had no intention of blowing any living being up, just the machinery. As soon as the bomb would've gone off, the mission would be over and they'd all enter cryo sleep. Everyone would've been alive and well, the life forms on the planet also not under threat of extinction.

Emerson Choy • 1 year ago

Yea honestly they could've done that, maybe the initial plan was that but she got caught early and the bomb was timed, yea the details r tricky to catch

Düölingöhhh Snorlax • 1 year ago

Ahhh what a nice journey :3 I don’t really get their plans… But it all works out in the end so it’s all good I think :o
Story wise, veryyy interesting concept & quite excellent executions.
Art wise, everything looks amazing except for the characters :< like, why do they even move like that :/ It’s so clunkyyy.

nff • 1 year ago

If the animation is better, otherwise story pretty interesting for me

krybaby_97 • 1 year ago

Still not a fan of the animation style/art personally tho it did grow on me a bit. But I'm glad I sat through its entirety, it's a very captivating story, very beautifully done/written. Overall, I like this very much surprisingly, considering my super low expectations prior to watching. I am very satisfied :)

ivan truth • 1 year ago

Well it was good show.
Disliked the animation, unique art and deep story.
hope they don't F up the second chance.

Zhang Qiling • 1 year ago

I know this might make me sound like an asshole, but who gives a fuck about alien animals rights when the entire human race go to hell, there will be no one left to worry about it anyways. I believe worrying about your own race's future is more important than any other species. These crazy animal and whatever rights advocates lmao of course Patty was the sociopath in the group, it was clear she was a piece of shit from the start. It's always the ones who pretend to be flawless and saint like that are able to do the most heinous things.

Only one I felt sorry for their death was Mack honestly, he was great.
Although most people talk shit about the animation/character design, but I thought they were interesting looking and fit the plot and overall vibe of the anime perfectly. Kinda reminded me of Land of Lustrous animation style which I highly loved. This was a very nice anime. Hope they make more cool Sci Fi stuff in future, this genre is highly neglected, and they mostly torture us with mecha bullshit with tons of stupid fan service and call it Sci Fi...

Takkun67 • 1 year ago

What an amazing series. The plot flow was great with a slow but steady rising of the stakes, the characterization was pretty good, the score was *mmmuack*, and I fell in love with the artstyle and animation, even if I'm pretty alone on that front. The facial expressions were very fluid and did things that can't really be done with 2D.

These themes and general atmosphere are pretty rare to see in anime, and when they appear, chances are they're plagued by one or another tacky anime character trope, and this show had none of that nonsense. For all the hate it gets, I'm happy Netflix is now an actor on the anime industry and that it helps create unique jewels such as this one. It'll be with me for a long time. Greetings to all fellow enjoyers, I'd be happy to discuss it!

This was not ad and i assumed it would be horrible.

joblesshobo • 1 year ago

Great job Nina. Hardcore survival mode until the end.

I hope every copies of Patty gets deleted.

xxYoloSwagxx69420 • 1 year ago

Animation was absolutely horrible, but damn, the story was really interesting

Cranor • 1 year ago

Agree to disagree. Animation was good, sets a good standard for a 3d show that probably didn't have an absurd amount of investment.

xxYoloSwagxx69420 • 1 year ago

I'll concede that the art style and animation was unique in its own way. But the movements were a bit clunky imo. All I'm saying is that even though I personally didn't enjoy it, it didn't take away from my enjoyment of the story.
